Ultherapy is often positioned as “the non-surgical facelift.”
It targets deeper structural layers, including the SMAS.
On paper, that sounds powerful.
And yes, ultrasound-based SMAS tightening is documented in medical literature available through PubMed.
But here’s what I explain to patients in Burford and across Oxfordshire.
Lifting is not only about depth.
If you tighten one layer without considering:
• Volume
• Muscle imbalance
• Skin thickness
• Fat distribution
You can create tension without harmony through Deep Ultrasound Lifting.

Ultherapy can be appropriate for:
• Thicker lower faces
• Clear tissue heaviness
• Patients with realistic expectations
But in slim or ageing faces, especially post-menopause, it can exaggerate sharpness rather than restore balance.
That’s why I rarely default to it.
I prefer layered approaches:
• Biostimulators
• Full-face neuromodulation
• RF microneedling with depth control
• Skin quality rebuilding
Because lift without structure is temporary.
If you would like a proper, unhurried consultation and honest advice about your skin or face, we would be very happy to see you.
