Filler Dissolving

Rather than a sign of failure, filler dissolving is increasingly recognised as a proactive and empowering choice, allowing for a fresh start, better integration of future treatments, or a complete return to baseline.

book

Filler dissolving is a specialised medical procedure designed to break down and safely remove hyaluronic acid–based dermal fillers from the skin. Using an enzyme called hyaluronidase, this treatment targets unwanted or poorly placed filler, allowing it to be rapidly broken down and reabsorbed by the body.

First introduced into aesthetic medicine decades ago, hyaluronidase has become an essential tool for correcting overfilled, uneven, or migrated filler. It also plays a vital role in managing complications such as vascular occlusion, making it a cornerstone of safe, ethical practice.

Dissolving is particularly beneficial for individuals seeking a more natural appearance, or those who feel that previous treatments no longer suit their facial structure. The procedure can be performed on any area where hyaluronic acid filler has been placed, which is most commonly the lips, cheeks, tear troughs, chin, or jawline.

"I’ve had all my filler dissolved. I feel like I’m restoring myself to the way I was... I’ve gone back to the person I was. I feel a lot more confident now."

After removing her lip and jaw filler, Molly-Mae has become one of the most well-known voices for dissolving and embracing natural features.

FAQ's

How does it work?

Profhilo is formulated with hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring molecule in the skin.
The mechanism of action behind Profhilo involves linking high and low molecular weight HA chains through a thermal process without using any chemical agents to create a concentrated, yet very fluid product. When it is injected, it prompts fibroblasts to create collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid, improving the texture and moisture of the skin. The way Profhilo® is injected involves a specific technique, spreading around a 2cm radius from the injection points to hydrate the skin and boost collagen and elastin production. The product is absorbed back into the body within a month, requiring multiple sessions for upkeep.

FAQ's

What are the benefits?

Profhilo offers a unique approach by providing both immediate skin hydration and radiance, smoothing fine lines and wrinkles with its high concentration of hyaluronic acid. Over the longer term (3-6 months), it promotes dermal restructuring by encouraging collagen and elastin production from dermal fibroblast cells. This leads to a thicker, healthier skin dermis, resulting in sustained reduction of fine lines and wrinkles, as well as a more hydrated appearance. Profhilo spreads evenly within the skin's dermis layer to rejuvenate the entire face (or neck or any desired area), enhancing overall freshness and improving skin texture. Optimal results from Profhilo typically manifest around 6 weeks after treatment.

FAQ's

How many sessions I need to see results?

Typically, Profhilo treatment consists of two sessions spaced, around four weeks apart to achieve results. Depending on your skin requirements, sometimes can be suggested maintenance treatments every three to six months to sustain the benefits term.

FAQ's

What areas can be treated?

The areas commonly targeted by this treatment include the face, neck, chest area, hands, arms and knees. It is especially beneficial for individuals facing issues like skin sagging and loss of volume, particularly after turning 30.

FAQ's

Can it used with other treatments?

Profhilo can be combined with various treatments offered in our clinic, such as facials and injectables. Morpheus8 is often done alongside Profhilo, either in a single session or different sessions. Both procedures encourage the dermis to generate collagen and enhance skin elasticity, leading to complementary advantages.

For milder treatments to complement Profhilo, consider our Forma or microneedling treatments that also promote skin firmness and collagen production.

FAQ's

What is downtime?

Profhilo ensures minimal downtime. Small 'bumps may appear at the injection sites, but typically subside within 6-24 hours, which is a normal occurrence. These bumps are more noticeable in areas with thinner skin, such as the neck. Gentle massaging can help them settle. Like any injectable treatment, there is a possibility of bruising and swelling, usually appearing shortly after the procedure and resolving within 24-48 hours. Taking antihistamines can reduce swelling and sleeping on your back with your head elevated on the night of treatment can further minimize this risk. To prevent bruising, it's recommended to refrain from taking omega 3 fatty acid supplements, anti-inflammatory medicines like ibuprofen etc., and alcohol for 48 hours before your injectable procedures.

FAQ's

Will my skin look worse if I stop this treatment?

While discontinuing Profhilo treatments won't immediately reverse your skin to its pre treatment state, natural decline in collagen and elastin levels will continue with age.

FAQ's

Which is better Profhilo or dermal fillers?

This question is commonly asked during consultations. The honest response is that even though Profhilo and dermal fillers are both made from the same hyaluronic acid, they are intended for diffrent purposes.

Profhilo cannot be directly compared to fillers. Profhilo focuses on enhancing skin health and texture reducing skin laxity and promoting the production of elastin. On the hand, dermal fillers are specifically formulated to replenish or enhance volume in areas. Therefore, while both treatments made from the same main material, their uses and advantages vary significantly.

FAQ's

Will Profhilo lift my face and/or jowls?

Profhilo primarily function is a skin treatment. It lacks the ability to lift sagging jowls or replenish volume in the midface.

For individuals experiencing volume depletion and noticing signs of fatigue or droopiness in their reflection Profhilo is not a one size fits all solution. Nonetheless, it can complement volumizing treatments like cheek fillers and combination therapies (radiofrequency microneedling etc.)

FAQ's

Can Profhilo go wrong?

Profhilo is generally considered quite a safe treatment option. Any negative effects, though uncommon, are usually tied to how the treatment is given and how well the patient follows aftercare instructions. Swelling at the injection sites or lumps under the skin are a normal side effect. In some cases, patients may get infections at the injection spots. Aftercare adherence, such as good hygiene practices after treatment can help reduce this risk.

A very rare side effect is an allergic reaction but when administered by a medical professional these can be managed =quickly and effectively. Overall, when done correctly and with good aftercare, Profhilo is a low-risk treatment.
